Everybody Loves Raymond

We really think this episode is funny. Good thing we don't argue this way or our house would be a mess!

Hurricane Ike

Even though we live in East Texas, Hurricane Ike went right over Tyler. We didn't receieve anything compared to those that lived in Galveston and Beaumont, but we still got some very strong wings (50 to 60 mph), rain, power outages, and trees fallen everywhere. Aaron and I are house sitting for some people that live down the street from my parents so we were out there through the whole storm. We stayed at my parents even though the lights were out at their house and the lights never went out at our apartment. My mom feeds us so we were okay with it. We just basically read books by flashlight and Aaron and my dad kept wandering off into the storm to check on a million different things they could think of. The top of this huge tree fell in my parents drive way so we have to drive around it. My parents also have a generator so we ended up turning it on around 6:00 that night and spent the rest of the evening watching movies and having dinner. It ended up being a pretty cool day! We even drove around a little bit after the really strong winds to see the damage around the neighborhood. A lot of big trees down and some even fell on power lines (hence the reason the lights were out.) Other than that I think our area was pretty lucky!. Here are some pictures from my parents front porch. Here is the big tree that fell in their yard. I also took a little bit of video on my camera. Sorry it is so badly done. The wind was blowing me pretty hard so it was kind of hard to hold it still for too long.

Hunting

Well it finally happened. After three years of marriage, Aaron finally got me to go hunting with him. We went hunting for wild hogs. It was an interesting experience. First we had to go out there and put the tree stands in the trees. Then we went back out there later and had to climb up in the tree stands. Well I am afraid of heights so that was not my favorite part. To top it all off I had forgotten the off to keep the mesquitos off of me. Needless to say I was being eaten alive. Luckly Aaron had this camo thing that hides your face. So I put that on and also his Hat to cover the top of my head (yes they were eating me there too). Then I had this long sleeved shirt that I put over my arms. So I could hear the mesquitos but they couldn't get to me. Aaron had no problems because they don't eat him. And he was so excited for me to be with him. We waited...and waited...and waited. But no hogs ever came which means we got out there too late. It got dark and we ended up hearing something moving out in the woods...which could have been anything. So we ended up leaving and had to climb out of that scarey tree stand in the dark. I managed to get some fun pictures to document the fact that I did go with him...even if we didn't see anything!

Here we are before we left. That is my parents dog Shadow that never leaves anybody alone.

Here I am with my face camo.
